Finally something Sweet that is good for you!

Title of Product: Sweet Potato

Description: Sweet Potato

Why do you like it?
Well to start, anything that starts with "sweet" should be good. I never liked these when I was a kid--even with marshmellows melted on top! Now I love to eat them as baked fries. After washing it off I slice it up in long slivers or long tiny rectangles cubes. I brush them with extra virgin olive oil, place them on a baking sheet, then sprinkle them with garlic salt and any other seasoning you like. Bake until they are crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. They make a great side dish to any meat meal. Sweet potatoes are super-healthy for you and qualify as a vegetable, which I can always eat more of on a daily basis. It is a complex carbohydrate, and rich in beta carotene, and have more fiber than oatmeal.

Don't knock it 'til you try it!

Title of Product: Beech Nut Apple Delight

Description: Baby Food dessert

Why do you like it?
It packs great in your lunch and tastes gourmet! Yes, I know it is baby food but for about 50 cents you can treat yourself to the best applesauce there is. Baby food is a great way to insert healthy ingredients into your diet. It is basically pureed food that can be used as a clinging agent or sweetener in foods or just eat it out of the jar! I can't recommend the dinners but the fruity desserts are top notch! Still seems weird... well, it isn't for everyone but it is healthy and convenient.

Save Calories by having a drink.

Title of Product: Water

Description: Spring or filtered water

Why do you like it?
Clean, refreshing, and no calories! This is the best way to quench your thirst and the easiest way to reduce calories in your diet. If you substitute 2 glasses of water for 2 glasses of regular soda you can save nearly 600 calories a day. Since most people are suppose to eat around 2000-2400 calories a day, saving 600 is a lot! Not to mention you won't be putting nutrition-less ingredients, caffeine, corn syrup, and sugar from the soda in your body.

Move over Bisquick!

Title of Product: Hodgson Mill Insta-Bake

Description: Baking Mix

Why do you like it?
This is just like Bisquick but it is made with whole grain/whole wheat. I usually mix it 50-50 with bisquick to get a better flavor and texture for my preference. Using 100% Insta-bake will work just fine but the texture of the food is different. This is great for making pancakes or waffles. I usually add in a little flaxseed to get even more nutritional value into it.

Title of Product: Amy's Pizza

Description: Margherita Pizza

Why do you like it?
I have had Amy's other pizzas and liked them a lot. They are a little more expensive than a regular frozen pizza but of course they are made with organic ingredients. This is my favorite kind. The sauce is tasty and it has chunks of real mozzarella cheese. The crust is made with wheat flour and it is about 12 inches in diameter. The crust is thicker and bread-ier than other organic pizzas that seem like flat bread. I usually can eat all but 1 or 2 pieces in one setting. So much for the calories but it sure is good.

Sprinkle a little Omega-3 in everything!

Title of Product: Bob's Red Mill Whole Ground Flaxseed Meal

Description: Ground flaxseed

Why do you like it?
Dr. Oz recommended this little gem. This is a bag of flaxseed flakes that you sprinkle in just about anything. It is loaded with omega-3 and fiber and can be added to lots of things without affecting the flavor. It says it has a mild nutty flavor but I can't taste it at all. I have used it in baking, milkshakes, fruit smoothies, on top of applesauce and cereal, and in my PBJ sandwich.

I am Screaming for Ice Cream!

Title of Product: Breyers All Natural Ice Cream

Description: Vanilla Ice Cream with Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough

Why do you like it?
While Ice Cream itself isn't the healthiest thing you can eat this one is the most natural one I can find. The ice cream is made of all natural ingredients such as milk, cream, and sugar and it comes in many different flavors. The flavors are where you will find the not-s0-healthy ingredients like caramel, cookie dough, chocolate chips, chocolate swirls, brownies, etc. I just have to have a little sweet treat every once in a while and this brand seems to have the most natural ingredients and no corn syrup. Breyers makes other ice cream so be sure to look for the green banner that says, "all natural."

Juice Made From Fruit!

Title of Product: Juicy Juice

Description: Grape Juice

Why do you like it?
It has apple juice, grape juice, and pear juice along with Absorbic Acid and natural flavors. No corn syrup and no added sugar. You always have to watch the amount of sugar in juices and this is no exception. It tastes very sweet and delicious and grape is a great alternative to the juices that are more acidic. It makes for a nice sweet treat for breakfast or after dinner.

Title of Product: Magic Bullet

Description: A single serving blender

Why do you like it?
I'll admit I was a skeptic about this one. It was a gift from my funny Dad who claimed it was great. Well... he was right! This is a great kitchen tool that everyone should get. I use it for milkshakes and smoothies all the time. It makes single servings and the chopping part, the glasses, and the rims are all dishwasher safe. This is wonderful for breakfast smoothies.

Title of Product: Mott's Natural Applesauce

Description: Applesauce

Why do you like it?
It just has apples in it! The list is: apples, water and Absorbic Acid(Vitamin C). There is no corn syrup, no chemicals, just natural ingredients. There are several kinds of Mott's Applesauce available so be sure to look for the one called "Natural." I use it in cooking and by itself as a snack with a little sprinkle of cinnamon. There are a few other brands that make natural applesauce but this one is usually priced better.
